Substance Use in LGBTQ Populations

Individuals in the LGBTQ community face unique challenges, stresses and even trauma which results in a higher vulnerability to substance use disorder and mental health conditions. This webinar focuses on the prevalence, trauma, triggers and culture of substance use in the LGBTQ community. The webinar also addresses the risks of chemsex as well as treatment options, recovery strategies and resources for those in the Pride community affected by these issues.

Webinar objectives:

  1. Identify characteristics that are common among and differentiate the LGBTQ population from the general SUD population
  2. Review the role of trauma in SUD and how it impacts the LGBTQIA2+ population with SUD
  3. Discuss the implications for treatment in this population
